Closets by Design - Whittier

I spent over 10k with this company. I did not notice for some time that one of the rods to hang the clothes on was not cut to the correct length since I was not using it. Once I was aware and it was full of clothes it constantly was falling down. I called to them know and they said that it was out of warranty but they could fix it and tried to charge me $250 but offered to give me a discount at $125. You would think after spending so much money with them they would just take care of it their it instead of jeopardizing a future sale. Also their site saying their is a lifetime warranty there would not be an issue. This is directly off their site.Does Closets by Design have a warranty?We offer a manufacturers warranty* on all our custom storage systems for as long as you own your home. This warranty covers any defects in materials or workmanship, providing you with peace of mind and assurance in the durability and functionality of your Closets by Design solution.I would say this falls under workmanship. I even spoke to another location and they were shocked they were trying to charge me and said if you were our customer we would have fixed it for free as they considered this to be under the warranty. I ended up buying the piece myself and having it cut to the correct size for $20. If I had bought 10 rods the price would have been $5 per rod to give you an idea of probably how much this easy fixed would have cost them.

My designer, Kristen, was incredible! She took the time to truly understand my vision, reviewed all the options with me, offered great suggestions, and made sure I was completely satisfied with the final design. Her attention to detail and dedication to my project were unmatched. Highly recommend!

Michelle did an amazing job designing our closets! She really nailed the look we wanted and made sure we had plenty of space for everything. Her ideas were super practical and she paid close attention to what we needed. The installation was quick, and everything turned out so nice. We love how it turned out and would definitely recommend her to anyone looking to revamp their storage!

I wanted to build cabinets in my living room/dining area for glassware and hiding kids toys cluttering up the living room. Celina was my designer on my project and she was absolutely delightful. She designed exactly what I was looking for and was available through text after our meeting to answer any questions that came up. Armando was our builder and was great as well. He was very thorough and professional. The job was completed in one day and I am so happy with the outcome. Thank you Celina and Armando!

Tracy Worthington definitely delivered on a fantastic design. Her attention to detail as well as great customer service is what Im most impressed with. She always answers my questions and adapts the design to my needs. I would highly recommend working with her.

This is a review for Jenny Ellis who was an amazing design consultant for the closets in our house. We spent months waiting for our construction crew to get to our closet on top of other renovations they were doing and felt that they were not prioritizing us so we were reached out to Closets by Design. They were immediate in responding and came out the next day to evaluate our house and we finalized the designs the same day. Jenny was incredible and walked with us for every closet design and showed us samples and really made us feel like we were heard. We highly recommend this company and specifically Jenny if you’re looking to get your closets done!

Wonderful experience! Choose Miriam as your consultant she was amazing! Her design expertise was perfect and in one day I was able to see design and get a install date and she even pushed her management for better pricing when I made upgrades it was a perfect experience and I’ll be back for more cabinets in our remodel!

I had a great experience with designer Katesanee Paisalniyomsri. My area is still under construction and she took the time to design something that would work for my bedroom and laundry room. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5 stars for My designer Lena Orak was thoughtful, thorough, and very detail oriented.⭐️⭐️ 2 stars for the Closets By Design Business ModelI couldn’t move forward with the wall Ed project because it was at least $6,000 more than I expected for a queen wallbed and a tiny side cabinet (86” wide in total)Your business model goes against what so many sales experts recommend (as a biz owner myself).To generate qualified leads, you should at least have “our pricing starts at” on your websites and social media ads since you don’t share pricing give all the customization available.I was clearly not a MQL- marketing qualified lead. Because had I known your base pricing for a queen wall bed was $13,000, I would have never scheduled this appointment or wasted this poor designer’s time for a home consultation.I feel Terrible.Hopefully this review helps my designer since she didn’t get the saleHopefully it helps the business rethink a sales strategy for this segment of the marketAnd hopefully it helps a future customer save an appointment.

Our designer (Adrianna) was very personable; knowledgeable, listened to ideas and our budget concerns. She was extremely helpful and efficient in constructing an organized design for our Jack and Jill bedrooms and bookshelves to enhance the bonus room living area within budget. Our installer, Jose was simply fantastic! Extremely professional, kind and communicated extremely well as to concerns, next steps to each project and we were amazed on his efficiency to get the projects done quickly and in one day. No mishaps! He was awesome!!!

A 5-star plus experience.I bid this out to multiple vendors who build and install garage cabinets. I selected Closets by Design because they were best during the sales process and highly competitive with their pricing. During installation, they sent 3 people and my garage installation was completed in about 4 hours. If I did this myself, I would have spent a full weekend. Ive done this myself in previous homes, and hands down, this experience was my best.Now, there were a few minor defects with the doors and handles, but the installers returned the following week and replaced everything. No questions asked..if I wasnt happy, they resolved my problem..no debates.The sales agent/designer worked very closely with me to achieve my design vision, and even made multiple trips to my house. From a pricing point of view, my designer, Alicia, worked with her management team to price my project below my budget target. Alicia was amazingly responsive as compared her competitors, and quite frankly, it was her diligence and responsiveness that closed this deal.In addition, one of my big hurdles to this project was the removal of the basic garage shelving that comes with every house in my neighborhood (see picture). Alicia recommended a reputable handyman who quoted removal via FaceTime.....again, priced below my budget.All the stars aligned, and I couldnt be happier. Wish all my home improvement projects were this easy!Attached are before and after photographs showing the original storage system and my new cabinets. Looks great and fully functional.

Leanne, our consultant first designed our master bedroom walk-in closet, and we loved everything she did. We had her come back several months later to do the rest of the bedrooms in our home. We recently contacted her to do phase 1 of the garage we cant wait for it to be installed in January 2024. Leanne is awesome!! she listens very well and asks the necessary questions to make sure her design fits our needs. She has an amazing work ethic and her manual drafting skills are quite impressive!! Unreliable in terms of arriving for installation but my installer Edgar Gomez was excellent. Btw he was not the one who never showed up. Edgar redeemed my impression of the company

Donaldo installed my closet system within 2.5 hours! He was amazing explaining the design layout once more before installation, gave me all the necessary insights regarding post install care such as touch up paint, and was just kind all the way around.On the other hand, throughout the entire process of even getting my consultation with a designer they told me I would only need touch up paint for certain areas after the project was completed. That is not true. After consulting with my handyman, I will need patchwork AND a paint job which is something that was never communicated throughout the entire design process. Removing old material first and offering me the option to hire someone to do patchwork first and paint should have been done and offered to me before the formal installation for a more seamless experience. I think they withheld this information given that they push having your closet installed same day but now this is going to be a multi-day project for me.I hadnt even moved into my home yet so it would have been no issue whatsoever to hire someone to remove the old material and do the patchwork beforehand had I known this was what was necessary instead of them saying I only needed a small paint touch up job.

After getting estimates from several closet designers we selected Jenny Ellis at Closets by Design to help us with our bedroom closet design. Jenny was a pleasure to work with….always professional, friendly, and very knowledgeable ….offering ideas and suggestions …but never pushy. When it came to giving us an estimate she worked hard to stay within our budget, never compromising on quality to get a price we were happy with!We also want to give a shout out to our installer, Edger Gomez who took his time to make sure every inch of our closet was perfectly installed. Closet by Design’s new “empty” closets are tearing wall and are falling off wall within only weeks of installation. Photos are worth 1000 words. Customer service is dodging calls so we’re unable to get Closet by Design closets and wall repaired. Literally, closets are falling off wall. We even voiced our concerns at time of install and they said everything was installed correctly. After spending large sums of money with Closets by Design, our closets should not be literally falling off the wall.

Tracy Worthington is a gem. Very personable and professional in all aspects of her job.She takes the time to clarify what your needs are for your closet spaces then describes in detail what will be your best options.Tracy works to get you a reasonable quote and is willing to adjust as needed.Highly recommend both Tracy and Closets by Design.

It would be great if they screened customers before scheduling appointments so our time is not wasted. They only have mirror door options available and I just demoed my mirror for another option. If they just asked the question “what are you looking to achieve during this consultation?” It would’ve saved my and their designers time.

I have used Closet By Design twice now I went back after the first experience, which was really great experience and had additional installation of cabinets. This review is based on the initial consultation. I will comment again once the installation has been completed. I giving the 5 stars for the appointment set up and the designer Dawn. I was very impressed with Dawn, I found her to be very knowledgeable about the products, her presentation was very personable and comfortable, and I could clearly see her passion to resolve my current pains and fulfill my wishes for my miniature 1980s walk-in closet. She thoroughly explained various options and was very open to any suggestions I had. I was highly pleased with the final drawing of the layout for the closet and I am confident it will achieve my expectations for organization, esthetically pleasing, and modern. I am very pleased and did not hesitate to schedule the installation, which is sooner than I expected. I will admit I was initially hesitant to select CBD because of the low rating, but I went with my gut, glad I did, I got lucky having Dawn as my designer.

Teana Scott, Designer, is an excellent person, who is highly skilled and knowledgeable about advising me for the cabinets that I needed. They ALL are BETTER than I had anticipated! It was a pleasure to work with Teana, three times, and I will definitely request for her service for any future projects.

Farang came over to my house for a full design consultation on 3 closets. She did a fantastic job and was very methodical and thorough in her work. She also was patient in explaining everything and gave us a great price. Overall a great experience with Farang!

Our designer was pleasant and capable, however, their model is to hand draw a design for two and a half hours in your house and then try to sell it to you. I would have been more receptive to a digital design we could modify on the spot. The proposed design also eliminated much needed hanging space.

We had an excellent experience with Kelsey during her in-home visit. From the moment she arrived, she felt like someone we had known for a long time, and we immediately felt at ease with her. Her design skills are exceptional—she transformed a lot of wasted space into something highly functional. We received two other quotes (one less expensive, one more), but we chose to go with Kelsey because of her professionalism and understanding of our specific needs. While other reps focused on criticizing competitors, Kelsey remained focused on offering the best closet solution possible. We couldn’t be happier with our choice!

The installation men arrived late, but that wasn’t a big deal.I left the men at our empty newly remodeled house and I received a call when they were done! We had a master closet, laundry closet, guest closet, and wall bed unit installed! We spent over $17,000, a sizable amount. We had planned to have more work done, but with all of the problems we will have future work done by a different company! The sales lady promised to have everything notched around the baseboards, instead the installers cut the baseboards out, leaving unsightly visible gaps & damage in each closet!We paid a contractor over $800 to have the shelves and rods removed from each closet prior to Closets By Design arriving! The contractor patched & painted each closet, if the sales lady had told us to remove the baseboards we would have had it done! The gaps and visible damage to the walls is very disappointing!

What started out great ended bad. I would NEVER recommend this company or their management team. What they show you in the booklet brochure is NOT what you get as a finished project. Buyer beware!

Sales person took the order on 4/20 scheduled to install on 5/18. On 5/11 received message about to revise contract and was given 2 hours to respond. We did not respond in time and the install schedule was canceled. After reaching to clarify the contract we were put to a new installation of 6/2 (talked to installation dept). After a few more phone calls was able to get installation date moved up.In my opinion, the way the in house staffs was not very professional which they only gave 2 hours to respond and they canceled your installation date. The worst experience was the installation scheduling staff ( I think it was Melissa) was the rudest of them all.I may consider working with other vendors in the future due to their in house staffs.Sales person was fine she was not high pressure, installer was very good, products was what I ordered.

I’ll let the picture speak for itself as this is how my closet shelving was installed. The installer managed to pull off the baseboard without properly using a knife to cut the caulking resulting in tearing drywall upon pulling off baseboard. Not what I would expect from a professional installation.

Bella is an absolute rockstar! Her drawings and measurements were so on point, and our conversation was a blast. You can totally tell shes totally in love with what she does and knows it inside out. Just a heads up, Im saving the closets for the grand finale, but as soon as Im done with the kitchen and bathroom projects, Im diving into a purchase. Exciting times ahead!

This review is about the installer Victor Albarez! He was very patient, pleasant, he went above and beyond to meet my expectations! He did everything to make happy! He is a 5 star installer! The material of the company I’m not crazy about, it’s bulky, heavy and the surface is super fragile gets chipped very easily! They need to make the material lighter with the stronger surface!

We have called them 7 times about a problem with our order and this is before our installation. Im not at all pleased with their response to our inquiry. If I could cancel the installation if I could. Maybe this review will get their attention. Be very careful when dealing with this company and make sure what you asked for is actually reflected in the design they leave. Go over all the measurements carefully.

I have used CbyD three separate times over the years. My latest project involved changing an office which they had built in 2007 to a bedroom. The hall is so narrow, I knew that I would never be able to get e.g. a dresser down it, so I opted to change the configuration. My designer was Farang Heshmat. She is sweet and creative. I was overwhelmed at first and sent her away, insisting that I could not make a decision at that time. I know that she was disappointed, but she acted in a professional manner. When I thought about it and called her, she did come back and even returned a third time to discuss with me the idea of adding a drawer. She really wanted to make sure that I was happy with the results.

Chris Karam came to give us an estimate and he was excellent! Very professional and efficient and we look forward to seeing the final product once it’s installed. I would highly recommend Chris!

He came two days in a row to install our master closet and entertainment center. The first half of the day, he had someone with him but after that and the whole second day of installation, he was by himself. It wasn’t an easy task or installation.
